Anchor/Gate

The gate-type impeller is designed primarily for low-shear mixing applications where the goal is to gently and uniformly mix the contents of a process tank.

This type of impeller is commonly used to blend or mix different ingredients, liquids, or solids within the tank to achieve a homogeneous mixture, while it is particularly suitable for processes where shear-sensitive materials are involved.

The flat blades of the gate-type impeller create minimal shear forces, preventing excessive turbulence and minimizing the risk of damaging sensitive materials. The impeller generates a solid radial flow pattern. This means that the liquid is pushed outward from the center of the impeller towards the tank walls. This radial flow pattern helps in creating uniform mixing throughout the tank.

The addition of the PTFE made scrapers will prevent the product from sticking to the walls. It is especially required for highly viscous products.

MGT’s gate-type impellers are commonly used in industries such as food&beverages, dairies, and cosmetics, where the need for gentle mixing and the prevention of shear-induced issues are essential. They are chosen when achieving homogeneity and preventing damage to product quality are critical goals in the mixing process within process tanks.
